The honey dew was glaring at me from the corner of the kitchen. Time to give her attention. Obviously melon and ham have been married for a while, but adding a dunk of glistening honey and a roll in some cracked pepper sweetly spices up the relationship.
"Your honeydew is ripe when it smells faintly sweet and melon-y, and gives slightly when you press the skin."
Notes: Ham is Boar's Head.
HONEY-PEPPER MELON & HAM BITES
Ingredients: 1/2 honeydew melon-rind removed and chopped into 2 inch pieces, shaved ham- cut into 1-inch wide strips, 2 Tbsp. honey, 2 Tbsp. cracked pepper
1. Skewer each piece of melon with a roll of ham.
2. Dip each piece into the honey, making sure to get honey up the sides of the piece of melon.
3. Roll the honey-dipped edges of the melon in the pepper.
Tip: If the honey isn't sticking, press the melon bite onto a piece of paper towel, briefly.
